Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.43% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 4.40% or 0.17 points to trade at 4.15 at the close. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) added 1.08% or 0.45 points to end at 41.73 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 15.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Safran SA (PA:SAF), which lost 3.68% or 2.26 points to trade at 59.22 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 3.27% or 0.49 points to end at 14.57 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) shed 3.18% or 1.27 points to 38.78.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which rose 4.40% to 4.15, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was up 3.40% to settle at 59.340 and Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which gained 3.00% to close at 61.20.
The worst performers were Neopost (PA:NPOS) which was down 5.04% to 17.54 in late trade, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which lost 3.85% to settle at 21.60 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) which was down 3.68% to 59.22 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 431 to 247 and 91 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.17% to 23.33.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.55% or 19.10 to $1216.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.78% or 1.45 to hit $36.89 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.99% or 1.61 to trade at $38.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1396, while EUR/GBP rose 1.14% to 0.8015.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 94.61.
