Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Steel, Insurance and Chemical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Comsys Holdings Corp. (T:1721), which rose 6.98% or 120.0 points to trade at 1839.0 at the close. The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T:8331) added 6.50% or 32.0 points to end at 524.0 and Mitsubishi Logistics Corp. (T:9301) was up 5.44% or 81.0 points to 1570.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toyobo Co., Ltd. (T:3101), which lost 11.86% or 23.0 points to trade at 171.0 in late trade. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) declined 9.04% or 45.0 points to end at 453.0 and DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) shed 8.20% or 217.0 points to 2429.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1262 to 652 and 143 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.78% to 21.51 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.48 to $41.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.17% or 0.52 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.20% or 2.75 to trade at $1370.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 101.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 112.56.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.64.
