Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.26%, while the ADX General index declined 1.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 12.07% or 0.070 points to trade at 0.650 at the close. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) added 7.50% or 0.090 points to end at 1.290 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) was up 3.62% or 0.021 points to 0.601 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB), which lost 1.34% or 0.080 points to trade at 5.870 in late trade. Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) declined 1.31% or 0.012 points to end at 0.902 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) shed 0.99% or 0.060 points to 5.980.
The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which rose 12.20% to 0.920, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 3.53% to settle at 0.880 and Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which gained 3.33% to close at 0.310.
The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 3.25% to 7.45 in late trade, Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which lost 2.99% to settle at 17.85 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 2.84% to 6.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 10 to 10 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 17 fell and 6 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.36% or 0.13 to $35.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.48% or 0.18 to hit $37.51 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.23% or 15.00 to trade at $1234.30 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.24% to 4.1732.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.74.
