Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 5.67% or 0.37 points to trade at 6.89 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 3.07% or 0.59 points to end at 19.78 and Vale SA Pref (SA:VALE5) was up 1.83% or 0.47 points to 26.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 3.90% or 0.60 points to trade at 14.80 in late trade. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 3.54% or 0.55 points to end at 15.00 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) shed 3.39% or 0.49 points to 13.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 223 to 128 and 44 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.52% to 32.70.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.24% or 2.98 to $1249.38 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.99% or 0.43 to hit $43.81 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.82% or 1.02 to trade at $125.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.65% to 3.3185, while EUR/BRL rose 2.08% to 3.7641.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.00% at 96.14.
