Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Diversified Holdings, Power & Energy and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 1.00% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which rose 20.02% or 270.20 points to trade at 1620.00 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) added 20.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.600 and Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) was up 13.70% or 41.10 points to 341.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Millennium Housing Developers PLC (CM:MHDL), which lost 16.67% or 1.40 points to trade at 7.00 in late trade. Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) declined 12.61% or 1.40 points to end at 9.70 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) shed 12.50% or 0.1000 points to 0.7000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 134 to 51 and 42 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.48% or 0.71 to $47.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.45% or 0.71 to hit $48.26 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.51% or 19.40 to trade at $1307.70 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.12% to 205.030, while USD/LKR fell 0.02% to 144.470.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 94.85.
