Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Electrical/Machinery, Glass and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 2.15% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Shizuoka Bank, Ltd. (TOKYO:8355), which rose 3.22% or 39.0 points to trade at 1251.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Obayashi Corp. (TOKYO:1802) added 1.75% or 18.0 points to end at 1046.0 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TOKYO:9107) was up 1.15% or 3.0 points to 264.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Minebea Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6479), which fell 5.82% or 88.0 points to trade at 1425.0 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911) declined 5.73% or 144.5 points to end at 2377.0 and Pioneer Corp. (TOKYO:6773) was down 5.65% or 13.0 points to 217.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1704 to 172.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 9.93% to 39.19.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.52% or 0.71 to $46.04 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.56% or 0.79 to hit $49.89 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1124.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.45% to 119.54, while EUR/JPY fell 0.40% to 133.04.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 96.33.
