Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.24% or 0.71 points to trade at 58.14 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 0.95% or 0.30 points to end at 32.55 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.81% or 0.600 points to 75.010 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 2.48% or 1.52 points to trade at 59.85 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.82% or 0.80 points to end at 43.20 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.60% or 0.08 points to 13.22.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 54 to 43 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.25% or 3.18 to $1256.28 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 4.32% or 2.22 to hit $49.14 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 4.00% or 2.16 to trade at $51.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1220, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8660.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.05.
