Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 3.37% or 26.75 points to trade at 819.60 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) added 2.12% or 22.05 points to end at 1062.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 1.89% or 3.80 points to 204.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which lost 1.03% or 329.00 points to trade at 31545.15 in late trade. Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NS:ABUJ) declined 0.93% or 2.60 points to end at 277.65 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) shed 0.93% or 3.00 points to 321.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 1.99% to 1060.50, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 1.86% to settle at 205.10 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.74% to close at 513.95.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 0.96% to 269.25 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 0.93% to settle at 690.65 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.83% to 1210.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 935 to 636 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1527 rose and 1100 declined, while 100 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.46% to 11.1125 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 8.36 to $1293.36 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.25% or 0.62 to hit $50.20 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 0.58 to trade at $56.37 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.34% to 65.205, while EUR/INR rose 0.22% to 76.9024.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 93.20.
