Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 7.05% or 6.75 points to trade at 102.55 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 5.57% or 1.680 points to end at 31.860 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 4.91% or 16.60 points to 355.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which lost 5.97% or 4.700 points to trade at 74.000 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 3.98% or 6300 points to end at 152000 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) shed 2.01% or 10 points to 464.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 120 to 105 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.83% to 23.890.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.30 to $1275.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.26% or 1.59 to hit $47.11 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.61% or 1.83 to trade at $48.85 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.58% to 63.3712, while EUR/RUB rose 0.61% to 69.546.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 98.37.
