Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Rubber and Hotels sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Evertop Wire (TW:1616), which rose 9.83% or 0.400 points to trade at 4.470 at the close. Hiwin (TW:2049) added 8.28% or 12.50 points to end at 163.50 and Great Wall Ent (TW:1210) was up 7.87% or 2.10 points to 28.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pao Lung (TW:1906), which lost 9.80% or 1.25 points to trade at 11.50 in late trade. Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) declined 9.76% or 1.65 points to end at 15.25 and Arcadyan Tech (TW:3596) shed 8.44% or 5.90 points to 64.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 548 to 230 and 76 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.29% or 0.12 to $41.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.23% or 0.10 to hit $43.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.45 to trade at $1348.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.17% to 31.265, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2143.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.65.
