Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 4.84% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Siliconware (TW:2325), which rose 10.00% or 3.35 points to trade at 36.85 at the close. Meanwhile, A.S.E. (TW:2311) added 6.00% or 1.80 points to end at 31.80 and Entie Bank (TW:2849) was up 2.78% or 0.40 points to 14.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jye Tai (TW:6165), which fell 10.07% or 1.35 points to trade at 12.05 at the close. Carnival (TW:1417) declined 10.00% or 0.63 points to end at 5.67 and Twn Taffeta Fa (TW:1454) was down 10.00% or 0.98 points to 8.82.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 825 to 20.
Shares in Carnival (TW:1417) fell to 3-years lows; down 10.00% or 0.63 to 5.67.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 3.25% or 1.31 to $39.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.63% or 1.20 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.53% or 6.20 to trade at $1153.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.65% to 32.850, while TWD/CNY rose 0.61% to 0.1987.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 94.50.
