Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.81%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were OCI (AMS:OCI), which rose 0.26% or 0.070 points to trade at 26.895 at the close. Meanwhile, NN Group (AMS:NN) added 0.06% or 0.01 points to end at 25.45 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) was down 0.12% or 0.009 points to 7.489 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KPN Kon (AMS:KPN), which fell 5.84% or 0.205 points to trade at 3.303 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) declined 4.04% or 0.27 points to end at 6.37 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) was down 3.08% or 0.29 points to 9.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 143 to 30 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.04% or 0.27 to 6.37.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.74% to 31.41.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 2.63% or 1.16 to $45.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.57% or 0.74 to hit $48.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.76% or 8.40 to trade at $1110.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1263, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.7295.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 95.59.
