Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AMS:HEIN), which rose 3.15% or 2.27 points to trade at 74.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemalto (AMS:GTO) added 1.71% or 1.00 points to end at 59.45 and Randstad (AMS:RAND) was up 1.01% or 0.55 points to 55.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN), which fell 1.93% or 0.34 points to trade at 17.51 at the close. Philips Kon (AMS:PHG) declined 1.60% or 0.36 points to end at 22.16 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) was down 1.57% or 0.10 points to 6.21.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 93 to 75 and 6 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.56% to 26.69.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.25% or 0.12 to $47.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.62% or 0.81 to hit $48.95 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.50 to trade at $1117.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1314, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7285.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.39.
