Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which rose 3.22% or 0.3600 points to trade at 11.5350 at the close. Meanwhile, Portucel (LISBON:PTI) added 2.66% or 0.0820 points to end at 3.1660 and Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) was up 2.56% or 0.0001 points to 0.0039 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT), which fell 1.37% or 0.1390 points to trade at 9.9710 at the close. Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) declined 1.17% or 0.01 points to end at 0.67 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) was down 0.41% or 0.0002 points to 0.0485.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 34 to 17 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.17% or 0.01 to 0.67. Shares in Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) rose to all time lows; rising 2.56% or 0.0001 to 0.0039. Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.41% or 0.0002 to 0.0485.
Brent oil for November delivery was down 1.54% or 0.76 to $48.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.87% or 1.33 to hit $45.03 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.70% or 7.90 to trade at $1132.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.7326.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.39.
