Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Precision Instruments and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Okuma Corp. (T:6103), which rose 9.19% or 81.0 points to trade at 962.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Fujikura Ltd. (T:5803) added 6.34% or 36.0 points to end at 604.0 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) was up 3.77% or 22.0 points to 605.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706), which fell 8.27% or 21.0 points to trade at 233.0 at the close. Asahi Kasei Corp. (T:3407) declined 5.33% or 41.3 points to end at 733.8 and ANA Holdings Inc. (T:9202) was down 3.06% or 11.2 points to 355.1.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1036 to 834 and 1 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.84% to 26.58.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.91% or 0.42 to $45.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.71% or 0.35 to hit $48.70 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.27% or 14.90 to trade at $1161.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.25% to 120.78, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 132.16.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.60.
