Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Chemical/Bio & Medical care sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.37% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Spirox (TW:3055), which rose 9.91% or 1.65 points to trade at 18.30 at the close. Meanwhile, China Air Line (TW:2610) added 4.19% or 0.45 points to end at 11.20 and Advanced Power (TW:8261) was up 4.08% or 1.20 points to 30.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chang Type (TW:1541), which fell 10.00% or 4.80 points to trade at 43.20 at the close. Scinopharm (TW:1789) declined 9.97% or 6.10 points to end at 55.10 and Cyberpower (TW:3617) was down 9.96% or 11.50 points to 104.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 715 to 126 and 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.99% or 0.74 to $38.26 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.44% or 0.58 to hit $40.85 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.09% or 1.00 to trade at $1076.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.64% to 32.823, while TWD/CNY rose 0.41% to 0.1960.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 98.21.
