Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 10.27% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.204 at the close. Reds (AT:CAMr) added 8.43% or 0.028 points to end at 0.360 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 7.29% or 0.018 points to 0.265 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Frigoglass (AT:FRIr), which lost 4.96% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.46 in late trade. ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) declined 4.36% or 0.13 points to end at 2.85 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 4.15% or 0.012 points to 0.277.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 38 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.49% or 6.00 to $1228.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.48% or 1.37 to hit $38.02 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.06% or 1.25 to trade at $39.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1193, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7843.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.96.
