Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 1.96% or 0.0365 points to trade at 1.8985 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 1.53% or 0.320 points to end at 21.200 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 1.04% or 95.0 points to 9190.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 5.17% or 9800 points to trade at 179900 in late trade. MTS (MCX:MTSS) declined 3.92% or 10.30 points to end at 252.60 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) shed 3.57% or 109.5 points to 2960.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 121 to 91 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.62% to 35.860.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.77% or 22.50 to $1251.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.04% or 0.50 to hit $47.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.21% or 0.59 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.62% to 67.0577, while EUR/RUB rose 1.20% to 75.140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 95.29.
