Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which rose 25.00% or 0.590 points to trade at 2.950 at the close. La Comercial (MX:LCMRUBC) added 4.33% or 0.78 points to end at 18.81 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) was up 2.80% or 9.190 points to 337.110 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO), which lost 2.32% or 2.280 points to trade at 96.160 in late trade. Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) declined 1.35% or 0.540 points to end at 39.550 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) shed 1.33% or 0.420 points to 31.150.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 98 to 56 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.22% or 2.85 to $1301.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 4.09% or 1.89 to hit $48.10 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 4.37% or 2.06 to trade at $49.25 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.53% to 18.8409, while EUR/MXN fell 0.04% to 21.2512.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 94.29.
