Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Technology and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.86%, while the MDAX index declined 1.61%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.66%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG), which rose 5.35% or 3.240 points to trade at 63.750 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 0.26% or 0.035 points to end at 13.575 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) was down 0.39% or 0.300 points to 76.310 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 5.75% or 0.770 points to trade at 12.625 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 4.70% or 0.449 points to end at 9.113 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) was down 2.63% or 0.645 points to 23.875.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 2.86% to 15.465, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 0.49% to settle at 57.230 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which gained 0.43% to close at 28.96.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 33.54% to 35.550 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which lost 6.92% to settle at 44.695 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 6.27% to 76.650 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 0.77% to 38.180, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 0.57% to settle at 31.640 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 0.10% to close at 10.200.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 12.94% to 4.984 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which lost 6.32% to settle at 2.859 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 4.66% to 48.640 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 528 to 157 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 33.54% or 17.940 to 35.550.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.13% to 21.10.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.00 to $1166.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.40% or 0.66 to hit $47.76 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.34 to trade at $50.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1384, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.7467.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 94.79.
