Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Wood, Paper & Printing, Telecoms and Information Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 gained 0.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Bagfas (IS:BAGFS), which rose 6.11% or 0.58 points to trade at 10.08 at the close. Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ) added 5.71% or 0.040 points to end at 0.740 and Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) was up 5.41% or 0.040 points to 0.780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alarko Gmyo (IS:ALGYO), which lost 1.85% or 0.68 points to trade at 36.04 in late trade. Gsd Holding (IS:GSDHO) declined 1.79% or 0.010 points to end at 0.550 and Pegasus (IS:PGSUS) shed 1.62% or 0.220 points to 13.320.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 222 to 109 and 77 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.85% or 9.65 to $1150.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $54.07 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.25 to trade at $57.21 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.60% to 3.5185, while EUR/TRY rose 0.14% to 3.6921.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 102.74.
