Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Rectron (TW:2302), which rose 9.97% or 0.74 points to trade at 8.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Powertech Tech (TW:6239) added 9.85% or 5.10 points to end at 56.90 and Swancor (TW:4733) was up 9.82% or 19.00 points to 212.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Apex (TW:3052), which fell 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 9.00 at the close. Realtek (TW:2379) declined 9.97% or 7.00 points to end at 63.20 and Chipmos (TW:8150) was down 9.94% or 3.30 points to 29.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 445 to 394 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Apex (TW:3052) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 1.00 to 9.00. Shares in Realtek (TW:2379) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.97% or 7.00 to 63.20. Shares in Chipmos (TW:8150) fell to all time lows; down 9.94% or 3.30 to 29.90.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.38% or 0.18 to $47.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $53.11 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1097.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.31% to 31.473, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.1974.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.88.
