Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Services and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.39%, while the ADX General index lost 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which rose 1.96% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.468 at the close. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) added 1.53% or 0.020 points to end at 1.330 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was up 1.25% or 0.020 points to 1.620 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 7.99% or 0.045 points to trade at 0.518 in late trade. Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) declined 6.92% or 0.090 points to end at 1.210 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 4.49% or 0.024 points to 0.510.
The top performers on the ADX General were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which rose 9.22% to 1.54, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was up 4.40% to settle at 0.95 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 4.00% to close at 0.520.
The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 9.79% to 2.95 in late trade, Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which lost 9.52% to settle at 0.570 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 3.65% to 7.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 13 to 7 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 7 advanced, while 4 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.58% or 0.23 to $39.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.22% or 0.09 to hit $41.12 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.36% or 4.40 to trade at $1219.10 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED unchanged 0.00% to 4.0959.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 96.31.
