Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which rose 2.56% or 7.950 points to trade at 318.000 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.34% or 12.00 points to end at 524.25 and Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) was up 2.20% or 10.45 points to 485.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which lost 2.65% or 5.00 points to trade at 184.00 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.35% or 14.20 points to end at 589.00 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) shed 2.20% or 10.35 points to 460.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.72% to 2324.25, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was up 1.34% to settle at 3267.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.24% to close at 948.10.
The worst performers were Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was down 2.65% to 587.00 in late trade, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which lost 2.29% to settle at 459.90 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.09% to 168.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 761 to 740 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1454 fell and 1370 advanced, while 144 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.86% to 13.2350.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.33% or 4.15 to $1243.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.11% or 0.58 to hit $52.92 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.68 to trade at $55.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 66.965, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 71.6114.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.20.
