Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Construction & Engineering and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which rose 21.84% or 294.80 points to trade at 1644.60 at the close. Carson Cumberbatch PLC (CM:CARS) added 19.96% or 49.90 points to end at 299.90 and Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) was up 17.92% or 108.10 points to 711.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 24.81% or 645.00 points to trade at 1955.10 in late trade. Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) declined 13.33% or 10.00 points to end at 65.00 and Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) shed 13.20% or 6.10 points to 40.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 117 to 55 and 46 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.10% or 0.81 to $37.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.76% or 0.71 to hit $39.68 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.50 to trade at $1256.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.17% to 207.685, while USD/LKR fell 0.37% to 144.420.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 96.52.
