France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 3.49%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 3.49%, while the SBF 120 index gained 3.26%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PARIS:TOTF), which rose 6.56% or 2.48 points to trade at 40.18 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) added 6.02% or 0.40 points to end at 7.08 and Accor SA (PARIS:ACCP) was up 5.54% or 2.25 points to 42.84 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (PARIS:PERP), which fell 1.72% or 1.61 points to trade at 92.20 at the close. Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) added 0.85% or 0.23 points to end at 27.31 and Publicis Groupe SA (PARIS:PUBP) was up 1.55% or 0.96 points to 62.75.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) which rose 9.01% to 57.61, Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was up 8.19% to settle at 4.69 and Aperam (AMS:APAM) which gained 8.12% to close at 30.75.

The worst performers were Gemalto (AMS:GTO) which was down 12.27% to 64.79 in late trade, Pernod Ricard SA (PARIS:PERP) which lost 1.72% to settle at 92.20 and Coface (PARIS:COFA) which was up 0.06% to 8.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 680 to 134 and 42 ended unchanged.

Shares in Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.01% or 4.76 to 57.61.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 13.48% to 29.33.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.19% or 2.10 to $1122.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 8.52% or 3.29 to hit $41.89 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 7.55% or 3.25 to trade at $46.40 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.86% to 1.1218, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.7286.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.70% at 95.97.
