Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.87% or 0.52 points to trade at 28.00 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.77% or 0.49 points to end at 64.09 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 0.73% or 0.33 points to 45.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.45% or 0.17 points to trade at 11.23 in late trade. Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) declined 0.70% or 0.57 points to end at 80.55 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 0.56% or 0.15 points to 26.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 48 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.25% or 2.95 to $1186.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.77% or 0.95 to hit $52.83 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.97% or 1.11 to trade at $55.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.0688, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.8527.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.63.
