Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4), which rose 3.12% or 0.26 points to trade at 8.60 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 3.02% or 0.090 points to end at 3.070 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 2.86% or 1.43 points to 51.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which lost 4.74% or 0.90 points to trade at 18.09 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.02% or 0.44 points to end at 10.50 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) shed 3.88% or 0.43 points to 10.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 195 to 93 and 23 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.01% to 33.15.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.40% or 5.45 to $1352.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.99% or 1.28 to hit $41.49 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.66% or 2.34 to trade at $138.98 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.1263, while EUR/BRL fell 0.04% to 3.4947.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 95.57.
