Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which rose 3.23% or 0.21 points to trade at 6.71 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 3.09% or 1.02 points to end at 34.01 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 2.95% or 0.35 points to 12.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which lost 3.09% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.82 in late trade. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 2.93% or 0.19 points to end at 6.30 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) shed 2.82% or 0.22 points to 7.59.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 159 to 148 and 26 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.59% to 43.09.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.20% or 2.55 to $1293.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.11% or 0.97 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.53% or 1.86 to trade at $119.92 .
USD/BRL was up 1.83% to 3.4977, while EUR/BRL rose 2.52% to 4.0329.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 92.55.
