Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Household, Retail and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.04% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which rose 13.93% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.139 at the close. Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 6.32% or 0.022 points to end at 0.370 and FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr) was up 5.80% or 0.170 points to 3.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hellenic Petroleum SA (AT:HEPr), which lost 3.21% or 0.150 points to trade at 4.530 in late trade. Public Power (AT:DEHr) declined 2.42% or 0.08 points to end at 3.22 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) shed 1.82% or 0.10 points to 5.38.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 55 to 48 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.04% or 24.65 to $1186.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $48.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $49.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.0547, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.8482.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.68% at 101.78.
