Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Construction and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.78%, while the MDAX index fell 0.47%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which rose 1.24% or 0.260 points to trade at 21.165 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) added 0.46% or 0.370 points to end at 81.510 and SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG) was up 0.03% or 0.020 points to 67.160 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 3.60% or 0.330 points to trade at 8.830 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 3.37% or 2.230 points to end at 64.030 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was down 3.11% or 0.435 points to 13.570.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which rose 1.77% to 73.000, RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was up 1.51% to settle at 73.350 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which gained 0.91% to close at 13.375.
The worst performers were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was down 6.14% to 76.010 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which lost 2.89% to settle at 62.570 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which was down 2.09% to 56.810 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 2.30% to 33.135, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 0.49% to settle at 27.780 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which gained 0.38% to close at 13.350.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 5.13% to 41.240 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which lost 4.31% to settle at 1.378 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 4.11% to 36.640 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 375 to 168 and 17 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.31% to 28.95.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.29% or 28.40 to $1211.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.05% or 0.31 to hit $29.13 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.73% or 0.91 to trade at $32.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.7794.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.86.
