Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Glass, Transport and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.02% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Thunder Tiger (TW:8033), which rose 9.91% or 0.85 points to trade at 9.43 at the close. Carry (TW:3054) added 9.89% or 1.80 points to end at 20.00 and Nuvoton (TW:4919) was up 9.86% or 3.15 points to 35.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Walton Chainte (TW:2425), which lost 6.97% or 1.70 points to trade at 22.70 in late trade. Chang Type (TW:1541) declined 5.36% or 3.00 points to end at 53.00 and Chlitina (TW:4137) shed 4.97% or 15.00 points to 287.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 420 to 317 and 115 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.95% or 0.62 to $32.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.54% or 0.51 to hit $33.52 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.12% or 13.80 to trade at $1217.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.99% to 33.224, while TWD/CNY fell 0.31% to 0.1958.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 96.82.
