Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.57% or 2.240 points to trade at 65.000 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 3.41% or 0.242 points to end at 7.345 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 1.45% or 0.21 points to 15.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 1.41% or 0.076 points to trade at 5.308 in late trade. NN Group (AS:NN) declined 1.18% or 0.39 points to end at 32.24 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) shed 1.14% or 0.52 points to 45.14.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 56 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.43% to 14.68.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.13% or 0.07 to $53.33 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.18% or 0.10 to hit $56.56 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.53% or 17.85 to trade at $1183.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.03% to 1.0596, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8542.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.99% at 101.48.
