Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which fell 0.05% or 0.04 points to trade at 88.26 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) fell 0.15% or 0.07 points to end at 47.31 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was down 0.20% or 0.03 points to 15.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which lost 2.53% or 0.090 points to trade at 3.466 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 2.25% or 0.110 points to end at 4.770 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) shed 1.92% or 1.09 points to 55.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 40 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.23% to 23.18 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.25% or 0.64 to $50.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.99% or 0.52 to hit $51.99 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.92% or 11.60 to trade at $1273.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1318, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7823.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
