Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Iron & Steel and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 30.50 points to trade at 335.50 at the close. Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 10.00% or 3.35 points to end at 36.85 and King Core (TW:6155) was up 9.89% or 1.85 points to 20.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which lost 7.64% or 1.20 points to trade at 14.50 in late trade. In-Win Dev (TW:6117) declined 5.41% or 1.05 points to end at 18.35 and Young Optics (TW:3504) shed 5.33% or 2.15 points to 38.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 606 to 187 and 83 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.37% or 0.18 to $49.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.38% or 0.20 to hit $52.33 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 3.80 to trade at $1273.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.53% to 30.107, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2283.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 98.98.
