Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.39%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which rose 4.26% or 60.15 points to trade at 1473.00 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.93% or 6.55 points to end at 173.10 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 3.55% or 32.25 points to 940.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which lost 2.39% or 29.10 points to trade at 1190.00 in late trade. Housing Development Finance Corp. (NS:HDFC) declined 1.57% or 19.60 points to end at 1230.10 and Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) shed 1.41% or 2.30 points to 160.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 5.22% to 1487.30, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 3.87% to settle at 942.50 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which gained 3.80% to close at 392.35.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.02% to 1193.25 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which lost 1.72% to settle at 1225.95 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.22% to 300.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1162 to 331 and 39 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1896 rose and 650 declined, while 158 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.30% to 18.0400.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.75 to $1211.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.48% or 0.23 to hit $48.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.22 to trade at $49.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 68.496, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 72.7730.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 101.12.
