Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Financials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.41% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AS:HEIN), which rose 3.67% or 2.68 points to trade at 75.63 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 2.58% or 0.56 points to end at 22.27 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 1.87% or 0.161 points to 8.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which lost 2.30% or 1.48 points to trade at 62.94 in late trade. Randstad (AS:RAND) declined 1.90% or 1.09 points to end at 56.42 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) shed 1.77% or 1.08 points to 59.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 50 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.11% to 13.33.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.11% or 0.06 to $53.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $55.88 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 7.25 to trade at $1232.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.0594, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.8512.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 101.12.
