Chef JJ Johnson was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2014. At the time, he was the chef de cuisine at The Cecil, a Harlem restaurant known for dishes like oxtail dumplings and gumbo. Since then, he was promoted to executive chef and the restaurant merged its menu with next-door jazz club Minton’s. Now, Johnson is developing a TV show and preparing to open the first fast-casual spot under his new restaurant group.
