Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 10.88% or 0.32 points to trade at 3.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 8.20% or 0.31 points to end at 4.09 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 5.44% or 2.76 points to 53.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 6.11% or 2.05 points to trade at 31.50 at the close. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 3.15% or 1.280 points to end at 39.350 and EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) was down 2.67% or 0.32 points to 11.66.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 200 to 115 and 4 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.85% to 49.44.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1135.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.68% or 0.77 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.79% or 3.45 to trade at $127.28 .
USD/BRL was down 0.72% to 3.9050, while EUR/BRL fell 0.94% to 4.3682.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 96.22.
