Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 4.66% or 3.00 points to trade at 67.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 2.50% or 298.0 points to end at 12199.0 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) was up 1.87% or 5.90 points to 320.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which fell 5.57% or 3.40 points to trade at 57.60 at the close. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) declined 2.34% or 6.20 points to end at 258.50 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was down 1.41% or 0.0010 points to 0.0722.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 113 to 104 and 12 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.03% to 36.600.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.14% or 12.10 to $1051.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.44% or 1.44 to hit $40.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.09% or 1.38 to trade at $43.06 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.73% to 67.090, while EUR/RUB rose 0.51% to 71.220.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 100.32.
