Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.32% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA), which rose 1.88% or 0.152 points to trade at 8.240 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 1.51% or 0.1750 points to end at 11.7600 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 1.30% or 0.1950 points to 15.2000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 3.91% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1720 in late trade. EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) declined 0.67% or 0.0480 points to end at 7.1000 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 0.50% or 0.0090 points to 1.8000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 26 to 19 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was down 1.60% or 0.72 to $44.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.87% or 0.80 to hit $41.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.29% or 3.95 to trade at $1350.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 0.44% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 95.62.
