Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Services, Consumer Staples and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.44%, while the ADX General index declined 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 6.25% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.19 at the close. Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) added 2.83% or 0.030 points to end at 1.090 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.90% or 0.020 points to 1.070 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which lost 3.11% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.560 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 2.81% or 0.110 points to end at 3.810 and Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) shed 1.92% or 0.016 points to 0.816.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which rose 3.56% to 2.330, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 2.22% to settle at 0.920 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 1.79% to close at 0.570.
The worst performers were Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 1.64% to 0.600 in late trade, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which lost 1.22% to settle at 0.810 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 1.19% to 0.8300 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 11 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 rose and 7 declined, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.34% or 0.16 to $46.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.32% or 0.16 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.52% or 6.95 to trade at $1355.75 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6725, while EUR/AED rose 0.23% to 4.1584.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 94.41.
