Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3), which rose 4.84% or 2.010 points to trade at 43.500 at the close. Meanwhile, BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3) added 4.31% or 0.49 points to end at 11.86 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) was up 4.18% or 0.15 points to 3.74 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 9.17% or 0.21 points to trade at 2.08 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 3.89% or 0.62 points to end at 15.30 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was down 3.53% or 0.22 points to 6.01.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 216 to 91 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) fell to all time lows; down 9.17% or 0.21 to 2.08.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.65% to 46.94.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.11% or 1.30 to $1165.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.46% or 0.21 to hit $45.41 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.79% or 0.95 to trade at $119.88 .
USD/BRL was down 0.82% to 3.9094, while EUR/BRL fell 2.84% to 4.3432.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.44% at 96.44.
