United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 1.75%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Services and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.75%, while the ADX General index declined 0.14%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA), which rose 1.16% or 0.030 points to trade at 2.610 at the close. Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) added 0.16% or 0.010 points to end at 6.270 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was up 0.12% or 0.010 points to 8.660 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Amlak Finance PJSC (DU:AMLK), which lost 10.00% or 0.130 points to trade at 1.170 in late trade. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 10.00% or 0.053 points to end at 0.477 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) shed 9.85% or 0.130 points to 1.190.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which rose 7.50% to 2.580, Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was up 1.41% to settle at 10.10 and Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which gained 1.12% to close at 18.00.

The worst performers were Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was down 10.00% to 0.9900 in late trade, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which lost 9.66% to settle at 2.150 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 7.84% to 0.470 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 32 to 4 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 fell and 6 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.58% or 0.31 to $53.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.62% or 0.35 to hit $56.35 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 3.85 to trade at $1232.05 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.01% to 3.9082.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.74.
