Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which rose 3.73% or 20.90 points to trade at 581.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) added 2.98% or 6.05 points to end at 209.35 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was up 2.44% or 22.0 points to 923.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which fell 2.88% or 22.00 points to trade at 742.00 at the close. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 2.78% or 8.50 points to end at 297.00 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was down 2.68% or 4300 points to 156300.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 108 to 90 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.98% or 6.05 to 209.35. Shares in DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.78% or 8.50 to 297.00. Shares in Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.44% or 22.0 to 923.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.68% to 45.450.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.16% or 13.20 to $1125.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.94% or 0.37 to hit $38.94 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.12 to trade at $43.09 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.11% to 69.440, while EUR/RUB fell 0.39% to 79.176.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 94.81.
