Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.47%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Unilever NV (AMS:UNc), which rose 3.43% or 1.19 points to trade at 35.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Heineken (AMS:HEIN) added 3.29% or 2.29 points to end at 71.95 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) was up 2.53% or 0.56 points to 22.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ING Groep NV (AMS:ING), which fell 0.34% or 0.045 points to trade at 13.250 at the close. TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) declined 0.29% or 0.022 points to end at 7.461 and Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) was down 0.05% or 0.03 points to 59.76.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 127 to 45 and 7 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.63% to 26.84.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 5.92% or 2.64 to $47.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 4.32% or 2.06 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.88% or 20.70 to trade at $1123.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7304.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.33.
