Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electric Power, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which rose 2.68% or 0.20 points to trade at 7.65 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 2.25% or 0.21 points to end at 9.53 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was up 2.09% or 0.47 points to 23.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 3.06% or 0.24 points to trade at 7.60 in late trade. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 1.78% or 1.10 points to end at 60.62 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 1.74% or 0.25 points to 14.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 220 to 128 and 42 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.05% to 37.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.85% or 10.74 to $1277.74 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.05% or 0.51 to hit $47.85 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.91% or 2.44 to trade at $125.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.04% to 3.2508, while EUR/BRL rose 0.68% to 3.6684.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 96.61.
