Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Fishery and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.10% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Ebara Corp. (T:6361), which rose 6.93% or 37.0 points to trade at 571.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Inpex Corp. (T:1605) added 4.24% or 49.5 points to end at 1217.0 and Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) was up 3.82% or 15.0 points to 408.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which fell 8.56% or 28.0 points to trade at 299.0 at the close. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (T:5713) declined 8.08% or 120.5 points to end at 1370.5 and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (T:7912) was down 6.16% or 78.0 points to 1188.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1286 to 587.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.28% to 21.11 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.09% or 0.48 to $43.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.13% or 0.06 to hit $47.79 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.27% or 2.90 to trade at $1091.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.13% to 122.99, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 132.15.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 99.09.
