Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Media, Retail and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.81%, while the MDAX index fell 1.35%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.91%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 1.10% or 0.405 points to trade at 37.110 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) added 0.85% or 1.600 points to end at 189.150 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) was up 0.76% or 0.700 points to 92.880 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG), which fell 3.78% or 3.570 points to trade at 90.780 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) declined 1.58% or 1.340 points to end at 83.420 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) was down 1.58% or 0.185 points to 11.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which rose 1.31% to 24.385, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was up 1.12% to settle at 15.375 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which gained 1.01% to close at 33.495.
The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 5.93% to 28.975 in late trade, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which lost 5.88% to settle at 44.660 and Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 3.75% to 79.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 5.82% to 168.250, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 3.69% to settle at 89.320 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 2.54% to close at 30.870.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 4.30% to 41.530 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (XETRA:FNTGN) which lost 3.69% to settle at 30.185 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 3.46% to 48.850 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 529 to 205 and 44 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.16.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.34% or 3.70 to $1093.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.94% or 0.42 to hit $44.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.08% or 0.54 to trade at $48.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.7092.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 97.61.
