Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals, Beverage and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.03% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 4.08% or 3.89 points to trade at 99.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 3.66% or 1.35 points to end at 38.38 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 3.63% or 0.26 points to 7.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KBC (BR:KBC), which fell 2.85% or 1.560 points to trade at 53.220 at the close. DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) declined 1.82% or 0.540 points to end at 29.070 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 1.21% or 1.65 points to 134.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 89 to 63 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.30 to $1166.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.18% or 0.08 to hit $45.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.10 to trade at $47.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.86% to 1.1130, while EUR/GBP fell 1.62% to 0.7234.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.30% at 96.32.
